Lane Kiffin Perfect Choice for Controversy-Ridden USC
When USC lost Pete Carroll and his 97-19 career record with the Trojans to the Seattle Seahawks last week, USC Nation was in a frenzy as to who could take over one of the greatest jobs in sports.
After being shot down by numerous candidates, most seemingly because of the emerging recruiting controversies surrounding Reggie Bush and others, the Trojans have finally found their man.
Enter Lane Kiffin.
A man who has never shied away from controversy, Kiffin has agreed to leave Tennessee and move to the cesspool known as Los Angeles, California.
But doesn't this all really fit?
Kiffin has been surrounded by controversy since accepting the job on the ol' Rocky Top. Recruiting? Check. Criminal actions? Check. Bold predictions? Ding ding ding, I think we've got our man.
Amidst all the scuffle involved with Kiffin, the man can still recruit and has proved that he can win college football games.
Pete Carroll who?
And the announcement couldn't have been made at a more perfect time. Only a day after Jack Del Rio shakily shot down the fact that the school had even offered him a contract, it's as if people were thinking that most coaches saw this as a too-hot-to-handle team.
But a normal coach's controversial firestorm is Lane Kiffin's beautiful utopia.
Remember, this is the guy who just two years ago was coaching an Al Davis-run team. Although his success there was limited, blame should be laid on Davis for not providing the talent to mold a winner.
To be honest, there is no move that could've been sweeter for the Trojans. Kiffin is the epitome of Southern California and especially Los Angeles, where drama isn't just a happening—it's a way of life.
If one coach could deal with the pressure of a professional-style atmosphere, a budding recruiting controversy, and still have to win at the highest level, it's Lane Kiffin.
Now there's only one question left to answer: How many of those prized recruits will make the trip with him?
