Pete Carroll, Urban Meyer, and Recruiting: News & Views

1.) It is official, Pete Carroll is headed to Seattle . No doubt this story will be on SportsCenter constantly in the coming weeks, especially considering all the allegations surrounding the USC program right now.
Reports are that some punishment will be handed down from the NCAA to the Trojans soon, and you have to think Carroll knew.
Even if that isn't his motive, it is a pretty shady time to leave. As Ivan Maisel says , Carroll is walking out now that things have finally gotten hard:
"When it came time to dig deeper, to start the climb up the mountain again, Carroll headed out the door."
2.) Urban Meyer is taking a leave of absence, yet Florida is recruiting like never before.

In fact, they are putting together what many believe could be the best class ever . What is most interesting is that five huge recruits have jumped on board since Meyer's announcement (4 five stars), and Meyer is recruiting them.
Sound fishy? Well, many including Ray McNulty of The Detroit News are starting to ask some questions. He has some great things in his article on the subject matter today:
"So what are we to think? That Meyer's heart condition is more serious than he wants us to know? That his leave of absence is nothing more than a way to buy time and keep recruits on board until next month's national signing day? That he already knows he won't coach again? I hope I'm wrong."
3.) Anyone else sick of reading all the crap on the Buckeye message boards?

Well, I am!
Don't get me wrong, I was bummed to see the Buckeyes have a tough day at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, but there is no reason lose all sanity. I really can't believe how many Buckeye fans have lost all perspective over the announcements of a couple of 18-19 year olds.
Duane Long in his latest blog post is also getting sick of the lack of perspective. Good read, and as usual, he brings down the hammer.
4.) Last night, Beanie Wells helped the Cardinals win a thriller over Green Bay 51-45 . He got 14 carries for 91 yards, averaging 6.5 yards per carry.

Pretty sharp for his first playoff game, and he continues to show what a steal he was in the late first round. I still think the Cardinals should give him more carries, especially around the goal line. I will never understand Tim Hightower as a power back.
