WWE Needs to Keep ECW Brand!
By this time many pro wrestling fans are well aware that WWE is planning on getting rid of the ECW brand. The particulars of when the changes will take effect are not completely known yet. WWE feels that by getting rid of the ECW format that they could gain more ratings on SYFY. In my following article I will put the following reasons why changing the ECW brand is not a good move.
Because ECW is a established brand:
I will be the first to admit that at first I was upset that ECW turned into the brand that it currently is. I was a hardcore ECW fan and was heartbroken when they implemented rules in the matches. I was even more heartbroken when my ECW heroes like Sabu, Sandman, RVD, Balls Mahoney, etc. Were not a permanent fixture in ECW. I was watching ECW since it first started at felt loved the organization and what it stood for.

I began to lose hope in the new ECW brand but began to appreciate that it gave new wrestlers a opportunity to make it into pro wrestling. Talent such as Jack Swagger, CM Punk, Pope (aka Elijah Burke), Evan Bourne began to showcase their abilities. Also since the name of ECW has been marketed since the nineties I feel that it is a brand that mainstream WWE fans have become familiar with. Doing away with it would mean less opportunities for WWE Superstars. I understand that it might get a new name but still I feel that ECW is a good brand that should be kept.
Because the ECW title has a long tradition:
In the last few years I have been saddend by the fact that titles in wrestling no longer mean what they used to. I am very dissapointed that the title always seems to change hands. I feel that the ECW title has enough of a history to mean something within the industry. It is a title that allows our current Superstars to show that they can carry a brand and possibly one day be the WWE champion. I believe that doing away with this brand would be harmful to many future Superstars.
Simply put I see no reason to do away with the ECW brand. It gets great ratings for SYFY standards and is overall a entertaining show.
