Arsenal-Everton: Rating Arsenal Player Performances

Callum D'SouzaJan 10, 2010

The snow trickled down as Arsenal played arguably one of their worst performances of the season, and were lucky to take a point out of the encounter with Everton. Thanks to a injury-time deflected strike from Tomas Rosicky, Arsenal were able to grasp a point.

Everton were physically dominant and deserved all three points. The absence of Cesc Fabregas and Alexandre Song—Arsenal's two strongest midfielders—was evident, as the midfield lacked strength and creativity.

Predicting USMNT Roster 🔮

Manuel Almunia: 4.5

Struggled under the high ball, and the Spaniard's decision making was poor, as he looked generally nervy. Did make a good save late on to deny James Vaughan. Lukasz Fabianski is knocking very hard on the first-choice keeper door.

Bacary Sagna: 7

Once again the Frenchman was consistent and solid. Attacked with prowess down the right and was his usual self when defending.

Wiliam Gallas: 5.5

The Frenchman was disappointingly outjumped by the smallest player on the park, Leon Osman, for Everton's first, and never really looked settled against the Everton attack. Almost found his way to the score sheet too.

Thomas Vermaelen: 6

Worked hard despite taking a blow. Struggled on occasions, but overall was pretty good. Unlucky not to have scored when his effort was well blocked.

Armand Traore: 5

Was torn apart by new boy Landon Donovan, had a torrid down defending the left flank, and his contribution in attack was a little lacklustre.

Denilson: 6

Put into Song's role, and failed to fill the gaping hole. Gave up the ball easily on occasion, but did manage to get his name on the score sheet. The Brazilian then collapsed, and Arsenal fans wait anxiously on the verdict of his injury.

Aaron Ramsey: 5.5

Failed to reproduce the same performance from the West Ham FA Cup encounter. Looked nervy when the ball was at his feet, and seemed to be lost in defence.

Abou Diaby: 7

Once again the Frenchman's lanky legs caused havoc for the Everton defenders, especially late on when his run and pass set up Rosicky for the equalizer. Contributed solidly in defence as well, making a number of vital tackles.

Samir Nasri: 6

On and off for the Frenchman. A few neat movements and passes, but disliked the physicality off the Everton defenders.

Eduardo Da Silva: 6

Looked dangerous at times, but went quiet too often. However, his confidence is returning slowly.

Andrei Arshavin: 6

The Russian magician failed to spark or find a moment of brilliance, but did perform solidly upfront by himself, and he will be happy to see Nicklas Bendtner return to the fray so he can play his usual winger role.

Substitutes

Tomas Rosicky: 6

A deflected effort saved Arsenal some blushes. The Czech looked dangerous at times, and is slowly recovering from various injuries.

Carlos Vela: N/A

Fran Merida: N/A
