Mora Was NOT The ONLY Problem

As a life-long Seahawks fan I had the highest expectations for 2009. It started great. It seemed that all signs were a go after the positive off-season moves. Combining our #1 draft pick of Wake Forrest LB fenom Aaron Curry with Lofa Tatupu and Leroy Hill I thought the Hawks would have one of the best linebacker corps in the league. Then the outlook seemed to get much better with the Free Agent signings of WR Housh and CB Lucas. I thought we were on the right track to being dangerous on both sides of the ball. Then the Hawks had that strong showing right out the gate in week one as they put a 28 point shut-out thrashing on the Rams. Then in week 2 it all came undone when one player destoyed the health and confidence of our team leader and field general Matt Hasselbeck. While Matt was looking to get into the endzone MLB Patrick Willis hit him at the 1 yard line with such a viscious hit that it broke his ribs. Matt showed unbelievable toughness as he tried to catch his wind and came off the field. It was obvious to anyone who saw that hit that Matt was hurt bad and suffering shock as he struggled to stay in the game on the sideline.  I have never seen a player's face show such excrutiating pain as he struggled to stay on his feet. It all came apart after that road game loss to San Francisco. After that I was embarrassed to wear my team colors for the remainder of the year.  I've now got some hope for something better from my hapless chickens than what I saw last year...what was that?...a disgusting joke of a season! let's get tough and downright nasty on both sides of the ball and see where that leads us. And Matt better be able to put that tenacious hit behind him if he ever expects to lead the offense to a victorious season. Since that hit whenever he scrambles out of the pocket he looks around for would be tacklers, he looks like a scared chicken with it's head cut off...lost doesn't begin to describe how he plays. On the positive side...The Hawks are starting from scratch. Bring in a tough disciplinarian for our next head coach and demmand accountability from all players at all positions. Justin Forsett is a poor man's Jones-Drew! He is a consistent threat and is hungry to start. Stay hungry kid and you will remain a force-tt!
