Bleacher Report to Hold WPS Mock Draft Live on Twitter

The WPS draft is rapidly approaching with only one week remaining before the January 15 draft to be held in Philadelphia. The anxieties of the future WPS athletes and hopes that have been weighing on fans will soon be settled as prospective players are selected by their new teams.

On Saturday, January 9 at 3:00pm ET, The WPS/Bleacher Report beat writers will be holding a mock draft live on Twitter. The nine beat writers, who make up the WPS community will serve as General Managers for a day representing each of the WPS teams.

The stand-in GM’s will make their picks in draft day order with the first three rounds of the draft taking place. The mock draft will be held on live on twitter at twitter.com/br_wps .

General Managers for this event will be Kat Galsim (Washington Freedom), Laura Kozak (Chicago Red Stars), Jo-Ryan Salazar (Los Angeles Sol), Lauren Salter (St. Louis Athetica), Kevin Albertina (FC Gold Pride), Alondra Hernandez (Atlanta Beat), and Todd Civin (Boston Breakers). Acting General Managers for Philadelphia and Sky Blue will be forthcoming.

These General Managers will be “selecting” some of the top seniors in the country based on intensive research into teams' individual needs and acquisitions to this point. We at Bleacher Report encourage fans to log on to twitter and follow the draft, comment, and give input.
