Pete Carroll To The Seahawks? Get Ready For a Shakeup!
ESPN's Chris Mortensen is reporting that the Seattle Seahawks are targeting Pete Carroll for its newly open head coaching position.
Mortensen tweeted the following on Friday afternoon, "Pete Carroll is the guy Seahawks are targeting. Expected to happen."
Obviously, this is potentially huge news for college football nationwide.
Pete Carroll has been one of the best college coaches inĀ America for a decade now after his first couple of stints in the NFL did not work out to well.
If this happens as expected, who will fill Carroll's shoes?
The obvious names are Steve Sarkisian andĀ Lane Kiffin if for nothing more than their recent history with the Trojans.
The Trojans brass is alsoĀ said to be enamored with Oregon State's Mike Reilly.
I also expect to hear names like Jon Gruden, Jim Harbaugh, and Jeff Fisher (because he's an alum and had a shaky year for the Titans).
USC is the premier college job in America thanks to Carroll. So you can bet the house that big name's will be courted.
This potentially gigantic news will obviously affect not only USC, but couldĀ affect another school as one could reasonably determine that if USC doesn't go after the two former Carroll assistants it will go after an even bigger fish (Saban, Tedford, Ferentz, etc).
To call this an earth-shattering college football story would be the understatment of the century.
Stay tuned.
