Texas, Alabama, The BCS Game and Ugly Truths Some Texas Fans Won't Face
In reading the comments on the internet sites this morning, it is apparent that there a lot of Texas fans and Alabama haters who simply need to come grips with some fundamental truths.
In no particular order, here they are:
1. The outcome wasn't fair, since Colt McCoy got knocked out.

For all the fans who said it wasn't fair Texas had to play without McCoy you are simply showing your foolishness in not understanding the word fair. There was nothing illegal, immoral or unfair in Alabama's win.
That's as stupid as saying a boxing decision wasn't fair because your favorite boxer was knocked out in the first round by a clean punch and wasn't able to be there for the whole fight.
Please folks, it's called football. If you have a fragile quarterback, don't run into the teeth of the nation's number one defense. The win was fair.
Try saying it was tragic that it happened, say anything other than unfair.
2. Alabama didn't prove they deserved to be number one since they beat Texas without Colt McCoy.
Colt McCoy had the Longhorn's first and goal at the three and left with three points. Colt McCoy was 2-2 for nine yards when he left. Was Texas going to let Colt McCoy play linebacker also and stop the pretend run stopping defense that Texas had that allowed not one, but two backs to run at will through the lines for over 100 yards?
Texas was without Colt McCoy, Alabama was without a number one defensive player, Damien Square, their starting Jack Linebacker, Donta Hightower, they had two recovering from the flu and one with his hand in a cast from a broken thumb. Also, though it was tried to be kept quiet, ESPN is reporting that Greg McElroy, Alabama's QB was playing with two cracked ribs.
Football is a team sport, the best team won. For Texas fans to not accept this means they acknowledge that they have no team, just a supporting cast for Colt McCoy.
And Texas fans, don't forget the pass Gilbert put right into the hands of a receiver in the end zone. It was not caught. To think it would have been just because McCoy threw it is just silly. Other passes were dropped too. There was a lot of blame to go around for the Longhorns.
Bay saying Alabama is not the best team because Texas lost its quarterback, they are saying that their coaches are stupid and don't know how to have a backup in place that has more experience than a freshman, which brings up point number three.
3. Why didn't Texas have a backup ready?
Could it be they spent the whole season keeping Colt McCoy in the game to pad his stats for the Heisman? Did they think that was more important than preparing a backup quarterback?
Saban acknowledged before the game that if McElroy couldn't continue, he'd burn a red shirt year for A.J. McCarron and play our freshman QB who he felt was most ready to lead and win the game. We also had Star Jackson ready to go.
4. Texas' number one rushing defense was a joke. Yes they held opponents to an average of about 68 yards a game, opponents with lousy running games.
Alabama ran running backs ran for 234 yards against this defense. By my calculator, that's about three and a half times the normal average Texas allows.
The sad news for Texas fans who believed they really did have a great rushing defense was the fact that was more yardage than Alabama averaged for the year. So in all actuality, the Texas run defense was one of the worst we played all year. Sorry, that's just the facts.
Welcome to SEC brand football where we believe defense is just as important as offense.
5. The best team won the BCS.
If you lose one player and lose you weren't that hot of a team. A team is over a hundred guys dedicated to winning and each other.
Alabama had starters go out too this year, many in fact. But they still found a way to win.
Only Boise State has a legitimate argument in their defense, Texas fans do not. SEC teams took care of two undefeated BCS pretenders and Boise State took care of the other one.
In a perfect world Boise State should share some glory, but this is the system that was voted in and Alabama won.
Now Texas fans, deal with the loss as your coach and teams did, with class. The game has been played and the results are in, stop your whining.
