Despite Loss, Texas Longhorns, Garrett Gilbert, Showed True Resilience

Regardless of the Alabama Crimson Tide winning this game, the Texas Longhorns have a lot to be proud of.

Despite losing their star stud quarterback in the first quarter, the Horns still battled back.

Despite being down 24-6 at halftime, the freshman and the Longhorns never gave up.

With three minutes left in the game, Texas was within three point of tying the game; and within a TD of winning the title.

The Horns, in my opinion, showed true heart tonight against the Alabama Tide.

I’ll give the Crimson Tide credit where it’s due; they played remarkable defense down the stretch and their Heisman winner is a an absolute train and will be a blast to watch in the NFL.

But Mack Brown and his UT Longhorns have a lot to be proud of.

Colt McCoy looked to be in near tears after the game when being interviewed.

Was it his parents that made the decision for him to sit after the injury, pressure from the coaching staff, the possibility of million-dollar contracts in pro football?

Regardless of the why’s, the point remains the same: the Texas Longhorns never gave up until the final buzzer sounded, and their play in this game defines what football is all about.

The final score doesn’t even come close to telling the real story of this game.

The Horns battled back, time and time again, and they are the epitome of what I love so much about college sports.

Any given night, any given field or court of play, any team can win.

Bama may have won the game, but Texas won too.

UT won by showing heart and resilience.

UT won by never giving up.

And they won by proving the Burnt Orange is about a lot more than just one individual.

The heart and soul of the Texas Longhorns came out tonight, and it was beautiful.

For those that missed the BCS Championship game, you missed an awesome game.

The Horns were within three with three minutes left with a freshman in taking snaps as the play-called.

And he still looked awesome down the stretch, regardless of his numerous interceptions thrown.

Hook ‘Em Horns.

Texas may have lost, but they should still hold their heads high after this latest setback…
