Biting Off More Than You Can Chew
The Ohio State University has been a program over the past few years, as a school consistantly one of the most steady programs in all of college football, and because Jim Tressel has spoiled the fans with such high stakes, fan have come to expect the Buckeyes as a major player in the national championship hunt each and every year. BCS bowl games have become a regular destination for Ohio State in recent years, but what fans must understand is, failure to reach the championship game is not necessarily a failed season. Lets play hypotheticals for a moment, What if Ohio State had beaten USC, and later beat Purdue as we all felt they should have due to the turnovers, do you honestly think this Ohio State team was ready for the national championship? Lets be honest with ourselves before answering that question. Listen, I love Ohio State as much as the next person, but if you truly love the Buckeyes as you say you do, one would want not only the best for our proud university, but for the kids as well. Sometimes our bark can be louder than our bite it's more to the championship game than just making the championship game, and in Jim Tressel's defense, the LSU championship was a championship in which the Buckeyes back into because West Virginia, Kansas, and Florida failed to seal the deal the last week in the season therefore forcing Ohio State into the championship game in a rebuilding season. Yes, we were all happy to see our beloved Buckeyes in the championship game, but we must be careful what we wish for. Lets not forget the Florida debacle, in which nobody gave Florida a chance based on the season Ohio State had in which they basically steam rolled everybody that lined up in front of them. Only we forgot one thing, Urban Meyer had an entire month to prepare for the championship game, now that is not to make excuses for coach Tressel, but 30 days is a long time to wait on a championship game, not to mention all the momentum Ohio State lost along the way. Unfortuantely the Big Ten has been the talk around the country based on Ohio State's failures during that time frame. So lets just embrace this Rose Bowl victory and gear up for our championship season in 2010, Tressel has made great strides this year in closing out the season with an epic performance against Oregon while 75% of america didn't give our beloved Buckeyes a fighting chance. Congratulations to Terrel Pryor in sending the seniors out with a nice Rose Bowl victory. Go Bucknuts
