For a head coach to make it in the NFL he need's the respect of his player's. But first he need's to be under contract. Well one thing Cable has going for him is the players support. Raider player's that have been with the organization for a few year's have to be tired of the head coaching carousel that goes on from year to year. Would another head coach really change anything? Would the player's play harder? Did they not play hard all year long in 2009 even when most of the games counted for nothing?

One thing i know for sure is that a top 5 head coach will not sign up with the Raider's. As a head coach your like a chef and want to be able to pick the ingredients that go with your dish. With the Raider's Al Davis pick's all the spice's and ingredients. If your a top coach in the league ala Mike Shannahan you are able to negotiate a contract that allows you a lot of control, with Al at the helm that will not happen.

Now who then would you pick to replace Tom Cable? What coach would have the ball's to bench the head master's boy toy for the better of the team ? Cable was the same person who benched Huff and look how Huff played this year. Im not saying Russell will come back and have a breakthrough season like a Vince Young or Alex Smith I truly think he is a bust which is really sad as a Raider fan because it means we still need a QB of the future. So who would you put in replace of Cable.

In a perfect world Cable is given one more year. Russell is told renegotiate your contract or hit the road. A GM is hired to help the old man out. A offensive cordiantor who has been succesful in the NFL is hired. But sadly Cable will be just another coach that will hit the road. But this just doesnt feel the same. When the last 4 head coach's were shown the door I dont remember a lot of player's asking for Al to keep that particular coach.

So Al go ahead and find the next puppet. Keep your man crush on the team. And better yet make Jamarcus the starter for the next 5 years regardless of his play. Go ahead and bring out that over head projector and tell us all why Jamarcus will be the next Troy Aikman. With Cable being fired you better be prepared for a lot of player's to be pissed and for the stadium to be even a little more empty. And it's not because he is a god and adored by all the fan's it's because we are all tired of the same shit year in and year out.
