As you may have heard, Fedor Emelianenko and his manager/M-1 Global president, Vadim Finkelchtein, allegedly posted similar comments on their Twitter accounts hinting they were on the verge of bolting from Strikeforce for the Octagon. Late Monday afternoon, Finkelchtein alerted the MMA world that they are not in talks with the UFC and those Tweets are bogus. In fact, they don’t even have Twitter accounts.
“Today I heard the rumors of me allegedly stating on my twitter account that we are negotiating with the UFC. I want to state that there are no talks with the UFC whatsoever. Our partner in the USA is STRIKEFORCE, we are happy to cooperate with STRIKEFORCE. Fedor (Emelianenko) and Gegard (Mousasi) fight there and they are quite happy with the conditions and how they are treated with respect there. Finally, I don’t have any account on Twitter. The account that ignited the rumors is false. Our attorneys are already aware of the situation and shortly this fake account will be deleted.”
What may have spawned the fake Tweets were UFC president Dana White’s comments over the UFC 108 weekend where he stated they had recently met with Team Fedor.
Don’t really know what White’s motives are here as Fedor and Mousasi are clearly locked-up, but you know he must have something up his sleeve … or he’s just being a bully and making waves because he can.
