Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Go Rah-Rah With Raheem Morris

Tom EdringtonJan 5, 2010

Surely you didn't expect they'd fire him.

Come on, Bucs followers.

Raheem Morris played with the lousy hand he was dealt in the season that was the 2009 Bucs.

THE WORLD said those Bucs would stink, and they didn't fail to disappoint.

Three wins was about the consensus. Three and 13.

You wanted Gruden gone, you wanted the house cleaned out, and it was, thoroughly.

Did you expect the Glazers to do it again?

Did you expect them to fork over $8 million a year just for Bill Cower and another five or six for his staff?

Oh come now.

Raheem Morris is back, and he probably deserves another year.

Perhaps 2010 won't have the utter disarray of 2009.

There will be no Byron Leftwich-Luke McCown quarterback sweepstakes in training camp, and perhaps now training camp will accomplish something.

Perhaps Morris can find a new offensive line coach who can coach-up an under-coached segment of the 2009 team.

Perhaps the small improvements of the Morris-coached defense can become larger improvements.

Perhaps Arron Sears can pull himself out of the fetal position he took last year and once again be a force on the offensive line.

Perhaps a lot can change. But the bottom line is this team needs an influx of talent—a lot more talent.

This team had the talent to win three games in 2009.

The departed Jon Gruden was one to say "you get what you deserve in the NFL." And that's what happened with the 2009 Bucs.

Don't go telling us that the draft class of 2010 will make this a .500 team. It won't.

And we know not to buy into Raheem's rah-rah. He'll have to be a lot more honest with everyone this year.

The plan? Oh yes, the plan. There is a plan, the Glazers tell us, Raheem tells us, and Mark Dominik tells us.

The plan should include reduced ticket prices.

Now there's a novel idea.

Improvement and goals for 2010?

How about double the number of wins? How about 6-10?

Rah-Rah.
