Fiesta Bowl Reaction: Congrats, Boise State, on a Hard-Fought Win
Well, the game did not finish up as I thought.Ā
Congrats to Boise State for playing hard, fighting to the end, and pulling out the win.
Fiesta Bowl president John Junker and his bowl committee were very happy by the close game long into the 4th quarter.
The only thing they missed out on was a hoped for overtime game.Ā But it was so close....
TCU players stood in shocked silence with the final interception of the game.Ā
In the end, most people will remember the game for a trick play and interceptions, but Boise should be remembered for its tough play and strong defensive effort.
As TCU coach Gary Patterson stated after the game, "Somebody had to lose the game."
Now, there may be some that argue that this game demonstrated that TCU and Boise State really are not that good.Ā Instead, this game should demonstrate that both TCU and Boise State are strong programs.
There might also be a push by some voters to put Boise State at fourth behind Florida and the BCS title game loser.Ā Such an effort would be flawed and wrong.
Boise State should be no lower than No. 2 in the nation.
Moreover, given the returning talent for both teams, these teams should both start in the top 10, if not the top five.
The Fiesta Bowl was not two teams at the kids' table or a slap in the face of the two schools.Ā
Instead, it was another epic battle in the long history of great games at the Fiesta Bowl.
