Momentum...is Very Important
The Jets victory on Sunday night may have not changed the outcome of the Bengals strong season but, it has restored new life to this franchise as they begin preparation for the AFC Wild Card re-match against the Bengals. Most likely there are very few people predicting the Jets as a strong candidate in the AFC but it's hard to overlook the momentum they now have. As we saw with the 2007 Super Bowl Giants, sometimes that momentum is all that is needed to win. Other times it appears it doesn't make a difference. It didn't stop the Giants from beating the 16-0 Patriots in the Super Bowl and there is always a chance another favorite team will be eliminated early in the playoffs. The Minnesota Vikings are also a team looking for a spark. They won a game that meant very little to the Giants, with a score of 44-7, and with playoffs already just a dream. After falling in a terrible slump, the Vikings looked like the team that initially started 11-1. The momentum of a team is the factor that doesn't appear on the regular season record card. As a result it remains to be seen how well the Saints will play after losing their last three games, after a great 13-0 start. At a glance their record is still impressive at 13-3 but they are missing something. It will also be interesting to watch the Colts, who let the last two games slide in an attempt to rest their players and how that decision will affect them in the playoffs. What's certain is now every team’s record is 0-0, as they all attempt to end their 2010 season with a ring.
