Which Team Will Rule This Decade, As The Most Accomplished Franchise
We all know how this works one team or two sometimes are synonymous with certain eras and decades because of what they accomplished in that time.
In the 1950's it was the Minneapolis Lakers winningĀ 4 out of ten championships, They were lead by George Mikan who also later coached them, and the head coach known for coaching them John Kundla.
In the 1960's it was the Boston Celtics they dominated that decade winning 10 championships and 11 all together they also won in 1959. They were Lead by Bill Russell who also later coached them. The head coach who introduced the Celtics to their winning ways was Red Auerbach, he is one of the best coaches of all time.
In the 1970's was once again ruled by Boston they won two out of ten championships that decade. They were lead by two men Dave Cowens and John Havlicek. They were coached by Tom Heinsohn. Although they didnt exactly dominate this decade they won it twice more then any other team.
In the 1980's the hardwood was ruled by The "Showtime" Los Angeles Lakers, Larrys celtics being a close second. These Lakers were Lead by Magic Johnson, with Kareem and James Worthy being second and third in command.Ā They were coached by the great Pat Riley he won four of the five. Paul Westhead won one.
In the 1990's the Chicago Bulls ran roughsod through opponents winning 6 out of ten titles, two three peats. Lead by the infamous Michael Jordan the greatest player of all time. They were coached by Phil Jackson also known as The Zen Master.
In the 2000's The Los Angeles Lakers once again dominated winning four times, I almost chose the Spurs but the Lakers hold one more over them. Lead by Shaq winning the first three, Lead by Kobe in the last one. Phil Jackson coached them to four titles.
Which leads us to this decade the teens (2010-2019). The reason i put Lebron in the picture is because i truly believe whoever gets him will win four to six titles this decade. Thus he will be the player of this decade, and whoever his coach is will be the coach of the decade.
I also have two other teams that i think have a shot at it.
First up the Oklahoma City Thunder. For obvious reasons i choose them they have a team full of young talent and are built to last a long time if all the pieces are kept together. Kevin Durant would be the player of the decade, with Jeff Green, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden in supporting roles. I really believe if they get a decent Center the sky is the limit for the Thunder this decade.
Next up is the Portland Blazers. The only thing that scares me about them is the blazers health. Brandon Roy would be the player of the decade, supporting roles to LaMarcus Aldridge and Greg Oden if hes healthy. Nate Mcmillan would be coach of the decade.
Now these are just my picks but i think i made some good choices. Who do you guys think will reign supreme and have the lofty title of "Team of the decade".
