Hasselbeck. A Cleveland Brown?
According to CBSSportsline.com, they are reporting that Mike Holmgren may be interested in bringing MattĀ Hasselbeck to Cleveland. If this is true what does it mean for Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson? I feel there are three scenarios that could occur if Matt comes to Cleveland.
Scenario 1:
If.... Brady Quinn stays in Cleveland, it will for certain be the end of his starting days wearing Brown and Orange pending a Hasselbeck injury. Mike Holmgren likes a rocket armed QB. Well that for certain disqualifies Quinn. Quinn would not be a bad back-up in the NFL. He is safe, hates to take chances, and manages a screen pass offense fairly well. All in all, if Quinn stays with a team that has a awesome running game, that relies very little on down the field passes, Quinn is your man. At the end of the day Derek Anderson gets released.

Brady has outgrown his shoulder pads. All the bulk he presents in a modern day Michaelangelo sculpture, provides him no range of motion, or zip on the football. All of the Quinntology Cult think he hasĀ had not enough chances. Others think 3-11 in 14 career starts is enough. Mostly because 2 of the 3 wins this year, he's beenĀ insignificant. If you take away just one of Cribbs, Jennings, or Harrison's performances in any of Quinn's starting wins... The BROWNS LOSE! People in Cleveland need to start realizing that is does not matter who our QB is, a win is a win. Does it really matter on a Monday morning who the QB was, ifĀ we win. If your a TRUE BROWNS FAN, than it sure as hell doesn't.
Scenario 2:
As mentioned in Scenario 1... Holmgren likes a rocket arm. Just look at his last 2 starting QB's Favre and Hasselbeck. This plays out well for DA. A QB like Hasselbeck with the help of Holmgren could groom and teach a gunslinger in DA. DA has all the tangibles and skill to be successful in the NFL. He needs work on his decision making. Decision making can be taught. The ability to throw a deep ball however can't be taught. Sorry Brady, is this scenario, your tenure in Cleveland, has left like a nasty case of Lake Effect Snow. In this scenario, you are a career back-up on some other team.
Scenario 3:
In this scenario both DA and Quinn are gone. I could see a Radcliff stick around as a back-up. He offers little harm to any salary cap. Also the Browns could then draft aĀ Tony Pike, and have him be taught by a legit veteran in Hasselbeck. This could play out great for Cleveland, look what it did for Green Bay. Sometimes sitting a first rounder and teaching him does better good than bad. Most Quinn supporters said, he sat too long, that he should have played earlier. Well has anyone seen Aaron Rodgers miss a step? No you say. Why is that? Oh, I know Rodgers has more talent in his non throwing hand, than Quinn does in his body. Talent can't be taught. Sorry Brady in this scenario, you again are the weakest link.... Good bye!
In closing, the next few weeks will be intersting to say the least. But Browns fans, don't be suprised to see DA take a pay cut and stay. With Holmgren in charge, I would bet to say DA's tenure with the team may be more realistic than Quinn's. If your a Quinntologist, you may need to start looking for another team to blog with. If your a DA guy, well welcome back to the pine if Hasselbeck comes here. Just take notes and learn. Your time may come, just as Rodgers time did in Green Bay. And if by some miracle Quinn is still here. Than Quinn, you to take notes and learn something!
