Liverpool No Longer a Feared Team?

Once again we witness Liverpool out gunned, out numbered and out played by a team which would be said to be small or weak as fans like to call them.

However, the match just shown otherwise. Reading, being the less favored team did lost their 30 minutes lead but then, they drew with Liverpool, a team which is feared and respected by small clubs. However, it doesn't seems like it is anymore.

From recent match, we saw Chelsea drew with 6th placed Birmingham all thanks to their keeper which was in Man of the Match form. But, we also saw Chelsea coming back from their bad form as they dominated the whole game.

Today's match was disappointing as Torres missed some wonderful opportunities, but it isn't that which lead to me saying Liverpool no longer threatens other club, is the way Reading played and the way Liverpool played.

For a smaller club, when playing with big giants like this, they often go for the total defending mode and counter attack only when possible and save. However, we saw Liverpool doing that has Reading took as many shots as they liked. Besides having both keepers performing wonderfully, Reading also had a whole team of extremely well coordinate young boys of the field determine to defeat Liverpool. Things did not turned out their way but they earned a well deserved replay at Anfield.

Liverpool on the other was totally messed up. They were like players from different teams playing together. No team work, no coordination, nothing.

First of all free kicks. Everyone goes into the box, deep into the box having no confidence in Reina to come out and punch or just simply catching it. Defensive Mid Fielders were in the Defenders position blocking Defenders movements and leaving no one in mid field to push for a counter attack.

We saw Liverpool clearing the ball out of play rather than passing them front for counter attack. Their passes were totally out and crosses leading to almost nothing. To be fair, Reading deserved to win the match. The positioning, the passes, the shots, the crosses, everything was out. Liverpool was like what Reading should be and Reading was what Liverpool should have display.

As shown by Reading, they were in attacking mode while playing with Liverpool, showing no fear at all as they speed down the lane and break Liverpool's poorly coordinated defense and fire at the goal which is kept by the out of form Reina.

Liverpool failed to capitalize on the fact that they are the big club. In addition to the wonderful thing, Liverpool fail to capitalize the last 20 minutes of the game as Reading's first choice keeper gets taken off the field and a young boy is placed there to guard the goal. Of course, he did wonderfully well with the only three shots on target by Liverpool, though a little clumsy at times but he did his job.

Is Liverpool no longer feared? No longer big? No longer powerful and respected? Are smaller clubs starting to exploit their terrible form this season?

Breaks over man, we lost the Champions League and Carling Cup. We are even worried of being relegated in the EPL. FA Cup is the final and only cup to win this season. get it right and at least bring it home man!
