Arenas Pulled Gun on Teammate

It was reported a few weeks ago that Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas was found with unloaded weapons in his locker-room. Arenas told the media that he kept the weapons in the locker-room after realizing it was unsafe to have them in his home with his kids around. Arenas told the media that he did not try to hide the weapons but actually told security about them. “Yes, I showed them to someone. I showed them to team security when I handed them to them and said give them to the police. Yes, I took them out of this locker room. I had to take them out to get them out of here to give to security”, Arenas said.

The New York Post is now reporting that the guns may have been linked to an altercation between Arenas and teammate Javaris Crittenton. The guns were drawn in the locker-room after a dispute over gambling. Gilbert Arenas was said to have drawn his gun first and the Crittenton followed. Authorities are taking a close look into this situation and will decide on a conclusion if there is any evidence supporting this claim.

Apparently, Gilbert Arenas doesn't think much of the situation at all. "You guys, I wanted to go rob banks, I wanted to be a bank robber on the weekends," Arenas said after being asked why he had guns in his locker.

Now I don't know how much truth there is to that story because the New York Post has been known for stretching stories out. But if Gilbert Arenas truly did draw a weapon on his own teammate he should be suspended until further notice. There is absolutely no way David Stern could tolerate that. Same penalties should apply to Javaris Crittenton if he drew a weapon too. Not only is unsafe for the surrounding player, but if the weapons were out during a game, it would be unsafe for fans. Do you want to take your son to an NBA game knowing some of the players are stashing weapons in the locker-room?

I hope, for the NBA's sake, that this claim is nothing more than Gilbert trying to keep his weapons away from his kids. If it is anything more than that, David Stern is going to have a lot on his plate.
