Matt Kobyluck, the 2008 champion in the NASCAR Camping World Series East, has announced he'll be returning to Toyota Speedway at Irwindale on Jan. 29-30 for the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown and defend his race win.

He's the first driver to repeat as a winner of the Showdown, having won in 2006 and 2009.

Kobyluck has been one of the most successful drivers in the six years the event has been held, having two second places finishes sandwiched between his two wins.

"We're going to go out there and try to knock off another one," Kobyluck said.

"It's such a great event, and such a great feeling to get a big win like that. You're competing against the best talent there is out there."

The NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown brings together the best of the best racing wise from across North America for what's been dubbed the "Daytona 500 of short-track racing, and features a 225-Lap Camping World Series East & West All-Star race.

The event guarantee's a starting spot for the race winners from the 2009 season in the NCWSE&W, along with the six champions from NASCAR's six regional tour series and also the Whelen All-American Series national champion.

Then the rest of the starting line is decided by time trials, with limited provisional's available for Camping World Series regulars, and a last chance "open" race will give drivers one final chance to get in the grid.

Kobyluck will have Mohegan Sun as his primary sponsor, he's looking forward to the race and getting his third win.

It's a great program put together by Toyota, Irwindale, and NASCAR and it's a very competitive race.

The Showdown is a very exciting race to watch. What I like best is seeing all the young talent competing in the race with a mix of some wily veterans. It's just a great event to watch during the offseason.

It's going to be awesome seeing the East's Kobyluck "The Veteran" racing against these two Kids from the East Series Ryan Truex and Brett Moffitt.

SpeedTV will cover both nights of the race action from Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, with the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown race, it also features a 100-Lap Whelen All-American Series Super Late Model and a 75-Lap Late Model races.
