JJ Redick 1

Welcome to our new segment entitled‭ “‬What Were They Thinking‭?” ‬The title is pretty self explanatory but I’ll go in a little more detail.‭ ‬In this ongoing series,‭ ‬we will search the web for wacky and wild happenings in basketball which makes you wonder what these athletes were thinking about when they made such an odd decision.‭ ‬I assume that Ron Artest will be a usual headliner in this category!

In breaking news coming out of Orlando,‭ ‬Magic‭ ‬3‭ ‬point sharpshooter,‭ ‬J.J.‭ ‬Redick has made a statement that he is in production to make a rap album……….It’s not a joke.‭ ‬According to Redick,‭ ‬he is part of a bigger‭ “‬supergroup‭” ‬consisting of‭ ‬himself and 3‭ ‬other members.‭ ‬He has not disclosed the identities of the other three MC’s.‭ ‬Just so I can keep my sanity,‭ ‬I hope they are actually talented wordsmiths and not a trio of former Duke players like Christian Laettner,‭ ‬Grant Hill,‭ ‬and Bobby Hurley.‭ ‬I’m sure that diehard UNC fans in Chapel Hill are busting a gut upon hearing news that one of their most hated rival players of all time is drawing such attention because he is venturing into the world usually reserved for real ballers and shot callers.

Redick reportedly already has a chorus and the first verse already constructed for the first single which he calls‭ “‬Waste Management‭” ‬I wonder what that is about‭! ‬The so called supergroup to this date has not committed to a name yet,‭ ‬although they list Sub-par,‭ ‬Afterthought,‭ ‬and No-Profits as possibilities.‭ ‬The group hopes to have the single released over the Internet with a full album due out by the end of this year or early‭ ‬2010.

Redick’s news is being taken seriously since his announcement has made it to AllHipHop.com,‭ ‬dubbed‭ “‬The World’s Most Dangerous Site‭”‬,‭ ‬which is one of the leading sources for hip hop news and happenings.‭ ‬I guess we can now add Jonathan Clay Redick to a long list of NBA players who have ventured into hip hop along with Shaquille O’Neal,‭ ‬Kobe Bryant,‭ ‬Allen Iverson,‭ ‬and Ron Artest.‭ ‬Here’s a tip JJ,‭ ‬stick to shooting threes‭!

Let us know what you think of JJ’s newest endevour‭?
