The Sunday Morning BCS Report: Week Nine

USC busted into the the ranks of the unbeaten teams in last week's BCS standings. They were the fifth ranked team and ahead of TCU, Cincinnati, and Boise State.

After their trip to Autzen Stadium, the Trojans are out of the national title hunt and might not win the Pac-10 for the first time since 2001.

Can there even be a Rose Bowl if USC isn't there to rip apart some Big 10 team? I guess we will soon find out.

I look for this to be a blip on the radar for USC. Matt Barkley is a wildly talented freshmen, the defense won't lose so many guys to the NFL next year and Pete Carroll has gone too long without an undefeated season.

Kirk Ferentz is enjoying his first undefeated season. When Ricky Stanzi threw four third-quarter interceptions, Ferentz didn't even seem to notice. He trotted Stanzi out there for the fourth quarter and the Hawkeyes dominated the Indiana Hoosiers to go to 9-0.

For all of those people asking what is wrong with Florida, well, things are starting to look right again in Gainesville. Alabama still has a tough game against LSU but Both Florida and Alabama should be undefeated when they meet in the SEC title game.

And that should be one of your National Title Game teams.

Texas is also in control of their own destiny. If Mack Brown, Colt McCoy, and Jordan Shipley can get through the rough Big XII and win that conference's title game then they will be the other team in the BCS Title Game.

Iowa has a tough road game at Ohio State. Cincinnati still has to play West Virginia and Pittsburgh. TCU still has to play Utah.

Boise State plays in the weak WAC, so they don't have a big game until they play in their bowl game. Their win over Oregon looks better and better as the Ducks are now the best one loss team in the country.

Seven undefeated teams going into the tenth week of the college football season. The BCS looks to be in danger of imploding in a few ways this season:

1. There could be up to six undefeated teams at the end of the season

2. All of the undefeated teams could lose except one so who do you call the second best team then?

3. All of the undefeated teams could lose so then who are the top two teams?

You know that the BCS is pulling for one thing:

1. The Florida/Alabama winner being undefeated as well as Texas staying unbeaten.

Chaos is looming and it looks like a team playing on blue turf.
