The Celtics were beaten by the Magic last year and did not advance to the Finals, but the injury bug had gotten to them. Considering they did not have Kevin Garnett since February it was amazing they even got close to the Finals.

This year KG is back and healthy, and the Boston Celtics are a team to be watched in the East.

Doc Rivers enters his sixth season as the coach of the Boston Celtics. After a whirlwind coaching career that made him move from team to TV, Rivers has found a home in Boston. In victory or defeat he has been a classy coach and has all the support of the fans and the management.

With Cleveland and Orlando making big free agent moves in the offseason, the Celtics had to respond. The team gathered together and coaxed free agents to come to Boston and that method netted them Rasheed Wallace and Shelden Williams.

Rasheed can be a key player in the Celtics' return to the finals, but he has to keep his cool and take on a role he may not be used too.

The Celtics also put cash up to keep Big Baby Glenn Davis in town, but may have dropped the ball when they let Leon Powe go to Cleveland.

Marquis Daniels may be a surprise pick up. The Celtics will be able to score with anyone, but the inside presence may be tough dealing with Howard and O’Neal in the East.

This year the Celtics have to avoid injuries and keep KG and the other aging superstars healthy for the Green. They have to keep the technical fouls to a minimum and find an answer for Cleveland.

The East is a two horse race with Cleveland and the Cavaliers, with the Magic sneaking in. The Celtics will be a top seed, but injuries will decide whether or not they play for the 18th Championship in Boston.
