The Cleveland Browns Should Move To a 4-3
It seems to me that this team needs a change. If anyone disagrees, leave a comment and see how well that goes for you.
As of now, the Browns defense is abysmal and ranked near the bottom of the league. Is it the coaching? Is it the talent? Or is it the personnel?
The Browns currently run a 3-4 defensive scheme. The 3-4 is supposed to be used to disable the opposing team from predicting who will blitz. The Browns only have one pass rusher so technically it ruins the point of the 3-4.

Rap Shuts Down Rodgers Rumor
So should the Browns switch to a 4-3, especially when some players and fans are so "passionate" about the 3-4? The answer is yes. Here's why.
Kamerion Wimbley
A true 4-3 defensive end converted to outside linebacker once he entered the NFL. He thrived in his rookie year but has had a drop since, with the exception of this year.
Many think he is a bust, while many believe that he still has potential. A switch to a 4-3 could do wonders for Wimbley.
Shaun Rogers and Corey Williams
Rogers is doing just fine in the 3-4, but fine is not Rogers. Rogers is a diesel train stuck in the trenches of a 3-4.
The season before Rogers joined the Browns, he was a member of the Detroit Lions. The Lions ran a 4-3, and that season he had seven sacks. In his first season with the Browns, he only recorded 4.5.
Williams is a prime example of a rising DT who had a career ending transaction from a 4-3 to a 3-4. In the two seasons he was a Green Bay Packer, before joining the Browns, he recorded seven sacks in each season. In his first season with the Browns, Williams recorded 0.5.
David Veikune
A defensive end converted to linebacker, he is a waste of a second round draft pick on the Browns.
In seven games, Veikune has seen very limited playing time, primarily on special teams. He has not recorded a single tackle all season. A switch to a 4-3 could give him a starting role.
His pick analysis from NFL.com said he is a "high-motor edge rusher with exceptional first-step quickness," and that he has a "relentless motor." He has the tools to be an NFL defensive end in a 4-3.
A D-line that consists of Veikune, Rogers, Williams, and Wimbley sounds like it would do a hell of a lot better than the current defense. With the depth behind Rogers and Williams, a rotation could be set.
D'Qwell Jackson and Eric Barton
D'Qwell Jackson is an undersized linebacker. Though he is a tackling machine, he isn't much of a pass rusher. The same can be said about Eric Barton.
In a 4-3, the outside linebackers are the defense's last chance from letting a running play turn into a huge gain. These two guys are definitely two players I would trust when I know I need someone to make a tackle.
One could fit on the inside while one fits on the outside. A player like Leon Williams would help create a nice trio for the Browns linebackers in a 4-3. It's a shame he was cut.
Just imagine this front seven.
DE- Wimbley
WSL- Barton
DT- Williams
MLB- Jackson
DT- Rogers
SSL- Williams (yes I know he was waived)
DE- Veikune
Not only would there be a consistent pass rush, but the linebackers can tackle and can cover. The 4-3 is perfect for the Cleveland Browns.
