WWE Backlash 2018 Matches: Predicting Results That Will Anger Fans
With such a loaded card for WWE Backlash this Sunday, it's inevitable there are bound to be some results which leave fans frustrated.
Several of the company's most popular stars do battle in high-profile matches that could shape the landscapes of both Raw and SmackDown for the next few months.
But with so many star-studded bouts, there is a serious possibility fans will be disappointed by a number of outcomes.
Whether these are title fights, inter-brand showdowns or part of a feud, there are plenty of candidates for the event, which starts at 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. kickoff show).
Daniel Bryan vs. Big Cass
1 of 3Even after so long away from the ring, Daniel Bryan remains the most popular wrestler WWE has in its possession.
Every time Bryan laces up the boots, fans expect a positive result and already seem to expect a surge of momentum leading toward another run with the WWE Championship.
But he faces a huge roadblock this weekend that could leave fans disappointed.
Big Cass is clearly highly thought of in WWE, illustrated best by the fact his first feud since returning to in-ring competition is against the company's most popular star.
And, in truth, though it would disappoint many fans, Cass is the guy who needs the win more this weekend.
If Bryan loses, he can easily recover. The same could not be said about Cass.
Carmella vs. Charlotte Flair
2 of 3It's fair to say that SmackDown Live's women's roster looks particularly loaded following the recent Superstar Shake-Up.
Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Naomi and Asuka all ply their trade on the blue brand, and, unfortunately, the one person who doesn't really fit properly as things stand is the current champion.
WWE did the right thing in having Carmella successfully cash in her Money in the Bank briefcase, but it came at such a time that she was immediately thrust into the top end of a roster with heaps of talent.
Having Flair head up SmackDown's women's division feels like the right move this weekend, even if Carmella's title reign is still in its infancy.
But you suspect WWE will persist with Carmella as champion for a while yet.
Samoa Joe vs. Roman Reigns
3 of 3There is only one man who truly needs victory this weekend, and it isn't Roman Reigns.
Reigns, such is his positioning and standing both within the company and on Raw, can easily survive a loss of any kind to Samoa Joe this Sunday.
But with Joe holding aspirations of entering the WWE Championship picture and starting afresh on SmackDown Live, he would surely benefit more by going over this weekend.
For Reigns, the lingering possibility of remaining in the Universal Championship picture remains whenever Brock Lesnar returns to TV, perhaps for Money in the Bank.
Defeat for him would not be as harmful as it would for Joe, who is eyeing up a huge start to life on the blue brand.
