
Dodgers Recall Top Hitting Prospect Alex Verdugo from Triple-A
The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled outfielder Alex Verdugo from Triple-A Oklahoma City and optioned pitcher Scott Alexander prior to Saturday night's game against the San Francisco Giants.
Verdugo, 21, is the Dodgers' top-ranked hitting prospect and No. 2 prospect overall behind right-handed pitcher Walker Buehler, according to MLB.com.
Verdugo also checks in as the 32nd-ranked prospect in all of baseball.

A high-contact hitter, Verdugo slashed .276/.309/.474 with four home runs and 15 RBI in Oklahoma City before making the move to The Show.
Last season, Verdugo spent a brief stint with the Dodgers and made his MLB debut on Sept. 1 against the San Diego Padres.
In 25 plate appearances over 15 games, the 2014 second-round pick hit .174 with one home run that accounted for his lone RBI.
