Ronda Rousey's Epic Debut at WWE WrestleMania 34 Ignites Twitter Explosion
Some feared Ronda Rousey's WWE debut would be a disaster.
It proved to be anything but.
Rousey and Raw general manager Kurt Angle defeated Triple H and Raw commissioner Stephanie McMahon in their mixed tag match at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans on Sunday.
For someone without any pro wrestling experience, Rousey acquitted herself well. There were multiple spots that allowed her to look strong, including her picking up Triple H in a moment that had the crowd on its feet.
Suffice it to say, people on social media were impressed:
Rousey signed with WWE in February after a decorated career in mixed martial arts that saw her become perhaps the most famous UFC star in history. She is single-handedly responsible for UFC's creation of a women's division.
Her signing with WWE is one of the biggest mainstream sports moves in the company's history, but some were hesitant to buy in on her as a sports entertainer. Her limited in-ring action before Sunday was shaky, as were her skills on the mic.
She still has a long way to go before being a fully well-rounded WWE Superstar—especially on the mic—but this was a brilliant way to debut.
