Real Madrid Transfer News: Jupp Heynckes Rules out Robert Lewandowski Move
Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes said on Monday that Real Madrid have "no chance" of signing striker Robert Lewandowski in the summer.
"[Karl-Heinz] Rummenigge spoke about this last week and was very clear. Knowing [Uli] Hoeness and Rummenigge as I do, I would give Real Madrid no chance of signing Lewandowski for next year," he said per Marca's Alberto Laz.
Bayern chief executive Rummenigge has previously told German newspaper Kicker that Lewandowski will "100 per cent" be playing for the club next season, per ESPN FC's Mark Lovell:
However, speculation over the striker's future refuses to go away, and the Poland international has asked his club to negotiate a move to the Santiago Bernabeu, per Agustin Martin at AS.
Lewandowski is one of the most prolific strikers in European football, and it is no surprise that Bayern are desperate to keep hold of him. The 29-year-old has 35 goals in all competitions for the club this season as they close in on another Bundesliga title.
The Bayern star is also the division's top scorer by quite some distance:
Yet Real Madrid are not the only club interested in his services, and Paris Saint-Germain also have him on their radar, according to Guillem Balague at Sky Sports:
However, a move to Real Madrid looks far more likely as Lewandowski dreams of playing for the club, according to Jose Felix Diaz of Marca.
Zinedine Zidane's side have endured a disappointing defence of their La Liga title as they sit a huge 13 points behind leaders Barcelona with just eight games left to play.
That could prompt a summer of big spending, and Lewandowski would add extra bite to an ageing attack. A move to the Bernabeu could also enhance Lewandowski's chances of landing the UEFA Champions League, a prize he has yet to claim in his career so far.
