Zion Williamson Leaves McDonald's All-American Game Because of Hand Injury
Prep phenom and Duke commit Zion Williamson left Wednesday's McDonald's All-American Game at Philips Arena in Atlanta after suffering a gruesome injury to his right thumb.
Williamson was attempting to drive past North Carolina commit Nassir Little, who reached his hand out to attempt a steal and sent Williamson to the ground, where he attempted to brace the fall with his hand. His thumb then bent backward because of the momentum and he toppled to the ground before leaving the game.
Jeff Goodman of ESPN reported Williamson will see a personal orthopedist Thursday.

Arguably the best prep dunker of his generation, Williamson is the No. 3 overall ranked player. He's part of Duke's top-rated recruiting class and is widely expected to be a high lottery pick if he decides to leave after his freshman season.
The big question here will be a diagnosis because Williamson's status for the summer could be determined by the severity of the injury. If it's just a break or a dislocation, odds are he will be healed in plenty of time for next college basketball season.
A severe ligament injury in combination with a break or dislocation could make things more complicated.
