Kevin Love Suffers Nasty Tooth Injury, Possible Concussion vs. Heat
Cleveland Cavaliers power forward Kevin Love got dinged up again Tuesday night when he suffered a subluxation of a tooth in the first quarter against the Miami Heat at American Airlines Arena.
Love returned after an initial examination, but he was ruled out at the start of the second half, according to Fox Sports Ohio's Allie Clifton.
After the game, Joe Gabriele of Cavs.com reported Love "exhibited some concussion-like symptoms" and would be re-evaluated in the morning to determine his status for Wednesday's game against the Charlotte Hornets.
Love recently returned from a 21-game absence because of a broken left hand—an injury that interrupted his All-Star-caliber campaign.
When healthy, Love has thrived to the tune of 18 points and 9.4 rebounds per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the field and 41.1 percent from three.
In order to preserve proper floor spacing, the Cavaliers will likely have to downshift to some smaller lineups with Love banged up.
For the time being, LeBron James and Jeff Green should pick up the slack at power forward, with Tristan Thompson and Larry Nance Jr. the go-to options at center.
