Jon Jones Calls out Brock Lesnar, Drops Mic After Reclaiming Title at UFC 214

Steven RondinaJul 29, 2017

Jon Jones scored an electrifying win over bitter rival Daniel Cormier at UFC 214, but his fighting spirit didn't mellow after the official decision was read.

Following his post-fight interview, Jones took the microphone and called out former UFC heavyweight champion (and current WWE universal champion) Brock Lesnar.

"Brock Lesnar," he began, prompting a raucous reaction from the crowd. "If you want to know what it feels like to get your ass kicked by somebody who weighs 40 pounds less than you, meet me in the Octagon." He then dropped the microphone and left the cage.

As recently as mid-July, this call-out would have been somewhat strange, but rumors of a Lesnar return have been swirling, and Jones has been mentioned frequently as a potential opponent. The UFC is all about making money fights, and if Lesnar can work out his differences with USADA, this certainly fits that bill.

Lesnar, who was watching UFC 214, offered up a short-but-sweet response to Jones' call-out to the Associated Press (h/t Sportsnet), simply saying: "Be careful what you wish for, young man."

While both men seem interested in the bout, fans shouldn't book their flights quite yet. They should, however, keep an eye on this one.
