Jimmie Ward Placed on Active PUP List with Hamstring Injury
San Francisco 49ers safety Jimmie Ward was placed on the physically unable to perform list Friday due to a pulled hamstring.
According to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, Ward suffered the injury during a conditioning test Thursday. He is free to be activated at any point prior to the final roster cuts.
Injuries are nothing new for Ward at the NFL level, as he missed five games last season and sat out eight games as a rookie in 2014.

Since getting selected by the Niners with the No. 30 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft out of Northern Illinois, Ward has been used in myriad ways at both safety and cornerback.
He was primarily a corner last season and registered 52 tackles, one interception and 12 passes defensed.
Entering 2017, however, Ward is listed as the team's starting free safety across from starting strong safety Eric Reid.
Don Jones and Vinnie Sunseri are behind Ward on the depth chart and figure to see the bulk of the action for as long as he is on the shelf.
