Frank Ntilikina Out of Knicks Practice After Suffering Knee Injury
New York Knicks rookie guard Frank Ntilikina, the eighth overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft, missed practice Thursday because of a sore right knee.
Knicks PR announced the absence from the NBA Summer League preparations.
Al Iannazzone of Newsday previously reported Ntilikina "appeared to be limping slightly" when he exited Wednesday's practice session.
There have been no reports to suggest he's dealing with any type of serious injury, though.
The 18-year-old Frenchman, who most recently played for SIG Strasbourg in France's top basketball league, was one of the most intriguing talents in his draft class. He's a high-upside prospect thanks to length, athleticism and an improved shooting stroke.
Paul Sabin of ESPN Analytics noted the outlet's forecasting model gave Ntilikina the best odds to become an All-Star from the 2017 class at 13.9 percent. But his lack of experience and making the transition from Europe also gave him a high bust potential at 59 percent.
Jeremy Schneider of NJ Advance Media noted the point guard hoped to give Knicks fans a sense of optimism after a series of frustrating seasons.
"What will I bring to the Knicks? Actually, a lot of hope," Ntilikina said. "I think I'm a player who will trust the process, work hard and definitely try to be the best player I can be."
It's unclear whether he'll be available when the Knicks kick off play in the Orlando Summer League on Saturday afternoon against the Dallas Mavericks.
