Knicks Trade Rumors: Joakim Noah Reportedly Involved in Kristap Porzingis Talks
Any team that tries to acquire Kristaps Porzingis from the New York Knicks will likely also have to add Joakim Noah to its roster.
According to Ian Begley and Ramona Shelburne of ESPN, Noah's "name has come up in multiple discussions" invovling Porzingis with the Knicks trying to unload the remainder of the four-year, $72 million contract he signed last offseason.
Noah's first year with the Knicks went about as poorly as possible.
The two-time All-Star averaged just 5.0 points per game when he was on the court, which was only about half of the season. He was also limited by a knee injury and then served a 20-game suspension for a banned substance.
"I made a mistake. It was a tough year for me, for this team," Noah said of the suspension in March, per Begley. "I let a lot of people down. It was a mistake. And I gotta learn from it and bounce back. This is a tough moment and I'm going to learn from it."
The Knicks clearly aren't expecting much of a turnaround for the 32-year-old, who also posted his worst defensive rating of his career, per Basketball Reference.
While Porzingis is one of the best assets available in the NBA as a 21-year-old who can fill up the stat sheet in a lot of ways, taking on Noah's albatross of a contract could potentially be a holdup in any potential deals.
