Eric Bischoff Says 'Never Say Never' When Asked About Becoming WWE Raw GM
Eric Bischoff is back in WWE's good graces for WrestleMania weekend, where he'll induct Diamond Dallas Page into the Hall of Fame. With a vacancy at Raw's general manager position, could this set him up for a triumphant return?
Maybe. But probably not.
"There's a tired, old, overused saying in this business, never say never," Bischoff said Thursday, via WWE on Twitter. "But I wouldn't bet on it."
Bischoff, 61, has not had an on-screen presence with WWE since 2007. He previously served as the Raw general manager from 2002 to 2005 after WWE's acquisition of WCW.
Since leaving WWE in 2007, Bischoff worked a half-decade in TNA before leaving amid controversy. He filed suit in 2015 over unpaid salary.
The thawing of Bischoff's relationship with WWE began again last year, when the company released a DVD on his career that is also available in part on the WWE Network. The company announced Bischoff would induct Page, whom he helped discover in WCW, earlier this year.
Raw's general manager position was vacated two weeks ago when Stephanie McMahon fired Mick Foley. While it came at the end of an angle that created tension between the two, Foley needed time away from television to undergo hip surgery.
There have been rampant rumors that Kurt Angle will take over the general manager post, which were partially stoked by a WWE.com article.
