Jim Ross Says His Wife Jan Is 'Gone' After Priest Reads Her Last Rites

Tyler ConwayMar 23, 2017

WWE Hall of Fame commentator Jim Ross tweeted that his wife, Jan, was "gone" Wednesday night after a priest read her last rites.

In a blog update posted to his website, Jim said Jan suffered multiple skull fractures and a catastrophic brain injury after being hit from behind while riding her Vespa home from the gym. She was not wearing a helmet at the time.

"I will fully admit that there has been no experience in my life that could have prepared me for this life changing week," Jim Ross wrote. "To see one's life partner and love of one's life being kept alive via life support equipment is tragically heartbreaking."

She was considered in critical condition earlier Wednesday. Multiple members of the WWE community, including Hall of Famer Mick Foley, offered their prayers and condolences on social media:

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair also shared his memories of Jan:

Flair's daughter, Charlotte, offered some kind words regarding Jan as well:

WWE Superstar Chris Jericho remembered some enjoyable interactions he had with her:

Ross' longtime commentary partner, Jerry "The King" Lawler, was also among those to send well wishes:

Jim and Jan Ross were married in 1993, the same year the former joined WWE. He described the pair as a "team," helping him through his battles with depression and Bell's Palsy while also developing close relationships with Superstars and their families.

"I was a 'coach' and Jan was the best coach's wife ever," Ross wrote. "She loved the talents and their spouses, invited them into our home, cooked for them and even did some of their laundry that they would bring over. Some of the Attitude Era's biggest stars were made to feel welcome in our home over the years thanks to my wife."
