Russell Westbrook on Stephen Curry Picking James Harden for MVP: 'Who's He?'
Stephen Curry seemingly struck a nerve with Russell Westbrook by selecting James Harden as his non-Golden State Warriors MVP, per NBC Sports' Dan Feldman.
"You kind of have to reward the better team, I would think, record-wise," Curry said. "That's just kind of going in the history of the MVP award. So, I think James will probably edge him out just off of that."
Note Curry's careful choice of words. He never said Harden should win the award. He simply suggested the voters weigh team success too much for Westbrook to overcome Oklahoma City's 38-29 record.
Nevertheless, the Thunder star sidestepped a question Thursday about his rival's pick.
"I don't care; don't matter what he say," Westbrook said. "Who's he?"
Considering Curry is the back-to-back reigning MVP and holds the single-season record for three-point makes, it's safe to say Westbrook knows who he is. It was likely a rhetorical question from a star who also may not admit to knowing the name of a certain other former MVP who used to play alongside him.
