Levent Gundogan Signs for Manchester United After Scoring 4 vs. Red Devils Youth
Manchester United have snapped up 14-year-old Levent Gundogan after the youngster impressed during a six-week trial.
The acquisition was confirmed by Gundogan's former club Connah's Quay Nomads on their official website, and they note that the youngster netted a quartet of goals playing for a North Wales Development side against a young Red Devils outfit in January 2017.
"His attitude and commitment to training and the club have been first class and we wish him all the best during his time at Manchester United," a section of the statement read.
The club paid tribute to the youngster's performances earlier in the season on their Twitter feed:
It's noted that the Red Devils offered Gundogan the chance to join on trial after his quartet of strikes and, evidently impressed by what they witnessed, they have taken the opportunity to sign him up on a permanent contract.
According to the Nomads statement, Gundogan is a "very gifted player, who is comfortable up front or in attacking midfield." The Welsh Premier League side noted that the teenager is the 29th member of their academy to be snapped up by a professional outfit over the course of the last seven years.
At Carrington, the prospect will join one of the most revered youth setups in the country, headed up by former United midfielder Nicky Butt.
Gundogan will be hoping to one day follow in the footsteps of the likes of Marcus Rashford, who refined his skills in the club's system before shining in the first team when handed a chance.
