Teixeira's Big Mac!

Teixeira’s walk-off reminds me of McGwire’s record breaking shot on September 8, 1998.

What’s funny is how both these guys are so well known for their majestic home run blasts, yet coincidentally, their most important ones barely cleared the wall in left field!

Twins put up a valiant effort Friday, but they’re toast in this series.

I figure Boston; on the other hand, can still rebound from an 0-2 hole against the Angels.

Interesting choice by Charlie Manuel to start Pedro in Game 3 against the Rockies.

I understand Martinez has historically put up stellar postseason numbers, but favoring that experience is tremendously overrated.

I said the same thing in 2005 when Joe Torre went with the 39-year-old Al Leiter against the Angels in the ALDS.

The lefty pitched 3.2 innings posting a 7.36 ERA.

If I’m Chuck, I’d start Joe Blanton instead. We’ll see!

As a side note, White Sox outfielder DeWayne Wise has opted for free agency instead of accepting a minor league contract at Triple-A Charlotte.

Wise, of course, will always be remembered for his most spectacular catch saving Buehrle’s perfect game against the Rays.

What shouldn’t be forgotten about that moment, however, is that Wise came off the bench cold as a ninth inning defensive replacement.

And given the circumstances of the catch, it’s the best Web Gem of the 2009 season.

I think Wise is best suited for the National League where he can come off the pine for defensive purposes  or as a pinch hitter.
