Terrence Jones Reportedly Being Shopped by Pelicans After DeMarcus Cousins Trade
Shortly after a blockbuster trade for DeMarcus Cousins, the New Orleans Pelicans are looking to trade forward Terrence Jones.
Per Chris Haynes of ESPN, the idea of a trade is a mutual decision between the team and the player.
New Orleans acquired Cousins Sunday night in a deal that sent Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway and two draft picks to the Sacramento Kings, per Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.
Jones, who is in his first year with the Pelicans, is averaging 11.5 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
The 25-year-old spent his first four years with the Houston Rockets before signing a one-year deal in the offseason.
"I wanted an opportunity to play for a team that is young and defining itself, but could still compete right away," Jones explained in July, per Oliver Maroney of Basketball Insiders. "I wanted a larger role, where I could really compete and help a team win."
Jones has played in 51 games this year, averaging 24.8 minutes per contest, although a frontcourt that includes Cousins and Anthony Davis would likely take away a lot of playing time going forward.
The former Kentucky Wildcats star will now hope to find a destination that allows for more opportunity for the remainder of the season before he tries to cash in during free agency.
