Bortles Loses Reliable Safety Valve with Hurns Injured
Hurns has quietly developed into one of the NFL's most reliable wideouts. The University of Miami product caught 16 touchdowns over his first two seasons and topped 1,000 yards for the first time in 2015. While he's below that pace this year, it's more because of the offensive struggles than his own play.
The 25-year-old Florida native has remained mostly durable since arriving to Jacksonville. He played 31 of a possible 32 games during his first two years in the NFL. He missed one game last season because of a concussion and also dealt with a concussion earlier in the 2016 campaign.
Blake Bortles will be forced to lean even more heavily on Allen Robinson as the team's top target. Marqise Lee and Rashad Greene should be in line for additional playing time as well.
All told, the Jaguars offense hasn't lived up to expectations for most of the season, but that's not Hurns' fault.
