Mahon Suffering from Undisclosed Injury

Tuesday, Nov. 8

Mahon exited Penn State's 41-14 win over the Iowa Hawkeyes last Saturday with an unknown injury and was carted back to the locker room. On Tuesday, head coach James Franklin declined to elaborate on what forced Mahon out of the game or whether he'll play against the Indiana Hoosiers.

"Right now obviously we ended the game with Paris [Palmer] and Chasz [Wright]," Franklin said, per PennLive.com's Greg Pickel. "Right now that's about all the information I have. As you guys know, I don't get into a whole lot of these specifics [related to injures] anyway."

Although Mahon only played one series, the Nittany Lions hardly missed a beat. Running back Saquon Barkley went for 167 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries, and Penn State rushed for 359 yards as a team.

After the game, guard Ryan Bates singled out Wright for excelling in Mahon's place at right tackle.

"I didn't realize [Mahon] went out," Bates said, per Pickel. "Chasz came in and kicked some butt."

Wright will likely continue filling in for Mahon until the junior is healthy enough to return. If the Iowa victory is any indication, then the right tackle position will remain in good hands as the Nittany Lions wrap up the regular season.
