WWE Superstar Power Rankings Ahead of October 3 Raw

The Doctor Chris MuellerOct 3, 2016

With WWE's new pay-per-view schedule, we have been getting a special event every other week since SummerSlam. That won't always be the case, but with 19 PPVs on the calendar, it's going to happen more often than not.

Adding more events is risky because fans may get burnt out and skip shows, but with the WWE Network being a service fans pay for every month, it doesn't matter as much as it used to if fans watch the PPVs.

The increase has allowed more Superstars to be booked into major storylines, and the brand extension has given some wrestlers more exposure than they ever would have gotten before.

The past week featured some great action and interesting storyline developments, but with fall TV, the presidential debates and Monday Night Football, WWE has had stiff competition in the ratings.

Let's take a look and see where everyone ranked in this week's Superstar power rankings.

10. Cesaro and Sheamus

1 of 10

Some fans may not like that Cesaro and Sheamus' best-of-seven series ended in a draw, but putting them together in a tag team could be exactly what both men need.

With all the new talent taking top spots on the roster, some of the veterans are being forced to find other ways to show off their skills.

Cesaro and Sheamus have a lot of qualities that complement each other, and their argumentative relationship will make for some interesting matches.

Kane and Daniel Bryan pulled off a similar storyline, and it was great for both men's careers. Sheamus and Cesaro can help each other in the long run, even if their partnership only lasts a few months.

9. Sasha Banks

2 of 10

Sasha Banks has been on fire since she her return from injury. Even though she often has to repeat the same things in her promos, her charisma is strong enough for her to pull it off.

Keeping her in the hunt for the Raw Women's Championship is a smart move because most of Raw's women's division is made up of newer talents who aren't ready to fight for the title yet.

She may wrestle with a risky style that puts her in danger most of the time, but if she can manage to stay healthy, she will have a long and fruitful career.

8. The Usos

3 of 10

The Usos were an outstanding babyface tag team for several years, but turning heel has breathed new life into what was becoming a stagnant run.

The increased viciousness and focus on hurting their opponents makes them look like the most dangerous team in the division, but their change in attitude is what has made them look like a brand new team.

It's only a matter of time until they are tag team champions again. They are too good in the ring and too recognizable with the fans for WWE not to push them.

Heath Slater and Rhyno will likely get a few months with the belts, but when it's time for them to lose, The Usos should be the guys who take the titles away.

7. Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens

4 of 10

Apart, Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens are two of the funniest Superstars on the roster. Together, they are easily the funniest act in the business.

Owens is at his best when he is talking trash to his opponent, while Jericho carries the bulk of the responsibility during promos.

There is a fine line between being a comedy character and being someone who simply makes fans laugh. Jeri-KO has found a way to be taken seriously while still being humorous.

Owens may be the universal champion, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him and Jericho win the tag titles at some point.

6. T.J. Perkins

5 of 10

T.J. Perkins made his Raw debut in a winning effort against a man who made a big impression during the Cruiserweight Classic, Tony Nese.

The WWE Universe gave Perkins a warm welcome, and he was able to produce one of the best bouts of the night with Nese.

The real story is the feud developing between Perkins and the man he beat at Clash of Champions, Brian Kendrick.

The Wizard of Odd is the perfect person to be Perkins' first rival. He already has the respect of the crowd, so putting over Perkins carries more weight if Kendrick does it instead of someone the WWE Universe is not familiar with.

5. John Cena

6 of 10

John Cena has been a changed man over the past few weeks. Ever since he announced he was chasing Ric Flair's record of 16 world titles, he has been more focused and driven to succeed.

The great thing is seeing the fans start to support him again. There was a long period of time when Cena couldn't enter an arena without being booed by everyone in attendance, but now it's hard to predict what kind of response he will get in any given city.

His program with AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose might not end with Cena tying Flair's record, but it has succeeded in setting us up for when he does end up winning another title.

Cena looked strong when he was the last man standing on SmackDown after taking out both Ambrose and Styles with Attitude Adjustments, and the promo he delivered on Talking Smack made him look more like a confident veteran.

4. Seth Rollins

7 of 10

The babyface turn of Seth Rollins has been executed in such a way that it doesn't just feel like another random turn out of nowhere.

Often times, when a Superstar makes the transition from being a good guy to a bad guy and vice versa, it seems like it came out of nowhere, and that makes it harder to buy from a fan's perspective.

Rollins isn't going out there and pandering to the crowd or getting cheap pops by mentioning what city he is in. In fact, he has changed little about his character.

He is the same cocky Superstar with a chip on his shoulder, but he is focusing his energy on people the fans hate instead of people the crowd likes.

With all three members of The Shield working as babyfaces right now, fans are wondering if a possible Shield reunion is in the works. The next cross-brand PPV is Survivor Series, so that is the first opportunity they will have to reunite if it's ever going to happen.

3. The New Day

8 of 10

The New Day keeps finding ways to retain the Tag Team Championships, and it has led to the team passing the 400-day mark as champions.

Some members of the WWE Universe feel like Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows should have already defeated them for the titles, but sometimes we see WWE force someone who deserves to be champion to wait until the time is right.

Having Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods and Big E carry the titles for so long has helped them solidify their spot as the top team in the company. However, all good things must come to an end.

It wouldn't be surprising to see the three men who make up the stable go their separate ways shortly after losing the belts, likely to Cesaro and Sheamus or The Club.

2. AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose

9 of 10

Ambrose's run as WWE world champion had a lot to be desired, but when he is in chase mode, there are few people who are as fun to watch.

The intensity he has shown during every segment since losing the belt has made him interesting again, proving he is better when he is the challenger.

He wasn't able to regain the title against Styles on SmackDown, but he has another shot coming up at No Mercy against Styles and Cena in a Triple Threat match.

2016 has been a good year for The Lunatic Fringe, so hopefully he is able to end it on a high note and head into 2017 with some momentum.

As for Styles, he has owned 2016. He lost a few PPV matches early on, but he has gone on to accomplish what many would have thought impossible before he signed with the company.

1. The Miz and Dolph Ziggler

10 of 10

Out of everything we have seen over the past seven days, nobody was more interesting than The Miz and Dolph Ziggler.

Both men are at the tops of their games, and their passionate promos and entertaining matches have made the Intercontinental Championship regain some of its prestige.

Mixing reality into their storyline has allowed them to let loose and do some of their best mic work in years, and their performances in the ring have been just as good.

To up the ante in what is supposed to be their final encounter for the IC title, Ziggler has put up his career against The Miz's championship, so the stakes have never been higher.

If Ziggler wins, he will break out of his slump, but if he loses, The Miz will get to brag about taking out a fan favorite for the next several months.

What do you think will happen? Can Ziggler regain the IC title, or will The Miz send him packing?
