Regardless of rumors about the uncertain future of Impact Wrestling, The Hardy Boyz are fighting to make TNA one of the most unique products in wrestling right now with the series of videos they’ve done this year.
From the “Final Deletion” video, which found huge audiences to the recent “Delete or Decay” segments, the Hardy brothers are producing content that is completely different than anything else in the industry right now.
At Bound for Glory, the Hardy family will be embarking on The Great War, a tag team title match against The Decay. When asked about the matchup, Matt spoke candidly about the battle:
"At The Great War, you are going to see the culmination of this whole situation that has been building up and manifesting with the demonic Decay. On that evening, we will have an opportunity to win the tag team titles of the world, and that’s an opportunity and odyssey I sent Brother Nero out on.
On October 2nd, this match will start in the Zone of Impact. It literally can go anywhere. It can go into the Universal Studies, it could go into Walt Disney, it could go into Tallahassee, it could go to Texas, it can go to Canada or it could go to South America. I might jump onto Skarsgard the Dilapidated Boat and sail all the way to Cuba. Who knows? This fight could go anywhere.
When it’s all said and done you’re going to have a combination of a great wrestling match and an extreme wrestling match. Also something very Final Deletion, Delete or Decay way.
"
Before Sunday’s Bound for Glory, rumors suggest TNA as a company could be sold. Impact Wrestling executive Billy Corgan is reportedly one of the main players attempting to buy the business, but the future of the brand looks very uncertain.
Inevitably, people have been asking about the rumors of TNA being sold, and The Hardy Boyz have not been impervious to the line of questioning. Matt spoke about the possible sale of Impact Wrestling:
"If Billy Corgan would have the company, I think people would be very positive about it. I feel like Dixie Carter and the regime that came before is part of the reason there was a stain on Impact Wrestling. So I feel like moving past that and to a new ownership or someone that has a new majority or have more of a say so would be looked upon from all angles a positive thing in many, many ways.
Obviously looking at his background and history as a rock star with the Smashing Pumpkins, Billy Corgan is someone who certainly has a vision. He is so consumed with wrestling and has such a love for wrestling at his core that his vision along with being a wrestling fan and along with listening to the right people he can make a huge impact.
"
In addition to WWE’s reported interest in buying TNA, there have also been recent reports that Vince McMahon and company are interested in bringing back Matt and Jeff following their success with Impact Wrestling.
When asked about the possible interest from The Hardy Boyz about a return, Jeff talked honestly about his perception of WWE and its interest level considering the success the brothers are having in TNA:
"I feel like we’ve been there and done that a long time ago, but it could be done again. For right now, I kind of feel like we are at the top of our game and we are almost too good for that. Although they rule the world as the dominant company, I love what we are doing right now in TNA, and I want to continue this as long as we can.
"
For those wrestling fans missing out on what Matt and Jeff Hardy are doing each week in TNA, they are missing out on some of the most genuinely entertaining content seen in the wrestling business in a long time.
While the Hardy’s storytelling may not be for everyone and is certainly outside the box, they are pushing the limits of what has become the norm on wrestling television. With the support of officials at Impact Wrestling, TNA has become a place where performers have creative freedom.
Led by the evolution of The Hardy Boyz and the reinvention of several former WWE and Ring of Honor stars in Impact Wrestling, the company is generating a buzz that has fans from all walks of life taking notice.
Sunday’s Bound for Glory PPV will be the next step in the madness of Broken Matt and Brother Nero, and anyone who doesn’t go out of their way to watch the show will be missing out on the kind of entertainment that made us all wrestling fans in the first place.
