The Seattle Mariners kept their postseason hopes alive by beating the Houston Astros on Wednesday afternoon. In the heat of an intense American League wild-card race, the club lightened the mood at the expense of its rookies.

Just in case Seattle isn't still playing on Halloween, it hosted an early costume party. Because of MLB's September roster expansion, plenty of newcomers participated in the harmless hazing:

Dan Vogelbach gets points for his Chris Farley Chippendales dancer. Dae-Ho Lee's years of experience in South Korea didn't spare the MLB newcomer from having to dress up as the Kool-Aid Man:

Edwin Diaz, an explosive closer with 82 strikeouts in 48.1 innings, was Gumby:

It's unclear which poor soul had to wear a giant dinosaur costume on the plane ride from Houston to Seattle:

Now, the Mariners must hope the Oakland Athletics don't disguise themselves as a better baseball team during their four-game series to close the season.
