Austin Seferian-Jenkins Released by Buccaneers: Latest Details and Reaction
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced that they have released tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins after he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence on Friday morning, per Greg Auman and Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.
Tight end Alan Cross has been promoted from the practice squad to the active roster, per the team.
“We are very disappointed in today’s news,” Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht said in the team's release. “After careful consideration, we felt this was the right decision at this time.”
Seferian-Jenkins said goodbye to the Bucs with a post on Twitter:
"Thank you TB! Next chapter

According to Stroud and Auman, the DUI arrest was Seferian-Jenkins' second since 2013.
"The arrest report states that Seferian-Jenkins was observed to have glassy eyes and the smell of alcohol and was 'agitated,' with slurred speech and leaning on objects for balance," Stroud and Auman wrote. "He 'performed poorly' on field sobriety tests and declined to provide a breath sample to measure his blood-alcohol level."
During the Bucs' 1-1 start to the 2016 season, Seferian-Jenkins caught all three of his targets for 44 yards and a touchdown.
The 23-year-old will now be eligible to the waiver-claims process. If he is not claimed, he will become a free agent.
