Seattle Seahawks rookie guard Germain Ifedi suffered an ankle injury during a Sept. 7 practice and had yet to make his 2016 regular-season debut. However, he has been cleared to return.

Head coach Pete Carroll said on Friday that Ifedi would play against the Jets on Sunday, per Liz Mathews of 710 ESPN Seattle.

Carroll Comments on Ifedi's Recovery

Carroll said Ifedi is improving but still hobbling, per Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio KJR.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport on Sept. 8, Ifedi was expected to be out of action for a few weeks.
Ifedi Was Drafted to Bolster Shaky Seahawks O-Line
The Seahawks took Ifedi with the No. 31 overall selection in the 2016 NFL draft out of Texas A&M, and he was expected to be a key part of the offensive line at right guard.
The offensive line was already the Seahawks' biggest question mark before Ifedi's injury, and getting him back will help keep quarterback Russell Wilson upright as he battles through ankle and knee injuries.
