Lawson said Sunday that there is no physical evidence in the alleged 2014 domestic-violence incident and he is waiting to hear back from the NFL, per Matthew Fairburn of New York Upstate. Lawson said nothing has happened between the date of the incident and now to warrant an investigation by the NFL, according to Fairburn.
On Aug. 17, the linebacker denied having knowledge about the situation, per Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News:
It remains unclear why Lawson might be facing a suspension. Graham initially reported it could be due to a domestic-violence incident, citing Lawson's arrest for domestic violence and disorderly conduct in 2014, though all charges in that case were dropped. Lawson entered a plea deal in the case.
A source told Graham the domestic-violence arrest wasn't the cause for the NFL investigation and possible one-game suspension, however.
Lawson registered 47 tackles, a sack and an interception in 16 games (14 starts) last season. The 32-year-old could be the second Bills defender to be suspended this week, as the NFL suspended star defensive lineman Marcell Dareusย for four games Wednesday for violating the league's substance-abuse policy, per Marc Sessler of NFL.com.
