Robinson said on July 28 that he wasn't under the influence of drugs or alcohol and is thankful no one was hurt, per Mike DiRocco of ESPN.

Although no citation was issued at the time of the accident, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office spokesperson Melissa Bujeda said it was determined one was in order following review of the case, per Joe Daraskevich of the Florida Times-Unionย on July 14: "The decision to have a citation issued for careless driving was made by the sheriff [Mike Williams] after his review of the reports. Mr. Robinson should have been issued a citation that night because he lost control of his vehicle."

On Thursday, Robinson was fined $100 for careless driving after pleading no contest to the charge, according to Larry Hannan of theย Florida Times-Union.

"My understanding is that the police officers did everything that they were supposed to do," Jaguars general manager David Caldwell said, via DiRoccoย on July 25. "I know it is under review, so I don't want to comment on that. Denard didn't do anything wrong, except for being out when he shouldn't have been out.

"I think that is a cautionary tale for a lot of our guys that at 3 or 4 in the morning, you leave yourself vulnerable for things to happen," Caldwell added.

In the police report, an officer described Robinson as either "asleep or fatigued." The officer reportedly knocked on Robinson's window when the car was submerged, and Robinson opened his eyes briefly before falling back asleep.

"The driver was passed out during this whole process," the officer wrote. "I was able to wake the driver but had to turn the vehicle off and remove his seat belt. The driver thought he was on a road and did not want to exit the vehicle."

Both Robinson and a female passenger exited the vehicle from the passenger door.

An officer administered a sobriety test and determined the 25-year-old wasn't driving under the influence.
