Bin Wang to WWE: Latest Comments and Reaction

WWE finalized a groundbreaking signing Thursday, making Bin Wang the first native of China to ink a developmental deal with the company.

The 22-year-old's signing was announced by the company in Shanghai, China, on the heels of its first-ever tryout camp in the country.

Wang is set to report to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, and had the following to say about joining the sports entertainment titan, per WWE.com: "It is an honor to be the first-ever Chinese talent in WWE history. There are no fans in the world that show the same passion as the WWE Universe, and I look forward to training and developing my skills so I can perform for them in the future."

According to ESPN.com's Darren Rovell, WWE Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events and Creative Triple H believes Wang could be the key to growing the company's popularity in China:

If things work out, we think having Bin would lead to people here talking about the product more. Once the NBA found Yao Ming, they didn't even need to find a second or third or fourth guy. Once fans got hooked, they followed the same stars as other fans did. He would open the door for them to learn more about our other guys like John Cena and Seth Rollins.

"

Wang has experience in professional wrestling, as he spent the past two years in WWE Hall of Famer Antonio Inoki's Inoki Genome Federation, per WWE.com.

In addition to Wang's signing, WWE announced a partnership with China's PPTV to distribute both Raw and SmackDown, and a WWE live event to be held in Shanghai on Sept. 10.

As the most populous country in the world with well over one billion people, China is a massive market that has largely been untapped by WWE over the years.

Provided Wang makes progress at the Performance Center and eventually graduates to NXT programming or even the WWE main roster, the company's already-present global dominance in the realm of professional wrestling sports entertainment promises to be strengthened even more.
